ERW pipes are extensively used in agriculture industry and construction activities like scaffolding and casing in bore wells. They are used for channeling water, gas, crude oil and chemicals at various pressures and densities over long distances. Considering the challenging and varied applications, the pipes are produced to meet highest national and international standards and specifications.
The pipe plant is equipped with state-of-the-art machines, slitting lines, pipe mills, galvanizing units, finishing machines and failsafe, high pressure hydro testing machines. The plant also has sufficient handling facilities.
Quality assurance begins at the raw material stage and continues right through all the manufacturing operations, till the pipes are packed for dispatch. The quality assurance department is fully backed by a modern laboratory for various metallurgical and chemical tests, and a test house for testing physical properties. It has been awarded the prestigious ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 & OHSAS 18001:2007 certificates by DET NORSKE VERITAS (DNV) for its quality systems.
Surya Group has installed capacity of 8,00,000 MT per annum to manufacture ERW pipes from OD ½” to 16″ according to various national & international specifications including API5L up to Grade X80 PSL2. The group has started manufacturing of Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) as per API 5CT Gr H40, J55, K55 PSL 1 & have supplied successfully to USA market. We are also supplying pipes confirming to AS 1074/ AS NZ 1163 and EN 10219, EN 10217, EN 39, EN 10255. Besides above, our plant is supplying BLACK, RED PAINTED, GALVANIZED & GROOVED PIPES.
ERW pipes are made of HR Coils. After being longitudinally slit, the strip is progressively formed into a circular shape by passing it through a series of forming rolls.
Continuous welding is carried out by a high frequency induction welding machine, and the seam is formed by fusing the edges without filler metal. The weld bead reinforcement (inside), is removed, if needed. The welded pipes, after cooling, are cut in appropriate length after attaining its roundness and specified outer diameter.
The pipes are conveyed to the finishing bay for finishing, testing and inspection. Hydro testing of pipes is undertaken to detect leaks and fissures prior to galvanizing and threading. Some of these pipes are subsequently galvanized and threaded as per specifications and client requirements.
